24h Prayer for Israel
“On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; All day and all night they will never keep silent. You who remind the LORD, take no rest for yourselves; And give HIM no rest until HE establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Is 62,6-7
“… for Salvation is from the Jews.” Joh. 4,22
It is very important for us to realise and accept the Truth which Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well. This is a documented, historical fact.
God’s grace, and God’s law has been given to us Gentiles through Israel; it is also His will, that we show this same grace to Israel. One way to meet this godly responsibility is through prayer, in particular, intercessory prayer. The Bible says: “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” Ps 122,6
God Himself challenges us to give Him no respite and to take up the mantle of guardians for Israel and Jerusalem.
Therefore, we want to make ourselves one with God’s will and play our part so that a permanent bridge of prayer and blessings will be maintained stretching from Switzerland out to Israel.
Our personal and national salvation also depends on the stance which we take in respect to Israel.
• How it all began in Switzerland ¦ The start in 1994
• Vision ¦ The vision for the 24h prayer
At the end of 1997 God spoke to us through His Word in Isaiah 62. It became an immediate, pressing challenge for us.
At the beginning of 1998 we began with the practical implementation of these Words from Isaiah 62,6-7.
Through different publications we sought 7 prayer leaders/coordinators one for each day of the week.
At the same time we received applications from the first intercessors who wanted to pray on a particular day at a particular time.
The prayer coordinators are responsible for the smooth running of “their” day and co-operation amongst “their” intercessors. They meet quarterly with the leadership of Verein Abraham.
Since then hundreds of intercessors from all parts of Switzerland have joined and committed themselves to this 24-hour prayer chain.
A monthly prayer letter, published in Jerusalem, serves as the basis for our prayers.

Israel: Christian Friends of Israel
God’s calling us back to Himself, to His word and to an understanding that salvation comes from the Jews, is still a call to prayer and intercession. Since 1998, several hundred of our brothers and sisters have been praying without interruption in a permanent prayer chain for Israel. Jesus has also been praying before the Father without ceasing for us for over 2000 years! We would like to take this opportunity to give heartfelt thanks to all these intercessors for their commitment and loyalty.
Nevertheless, hostility against Israel is on the increase.
This long-standing campaign with the purpose of making people, (including large parts of the Christian community), believe that Israel is the root of all the worlds’ problems and that it would be better and more peaceful without Israel.
Let us wake up, in this regard, or, at least, remain alert in prayer for God’s people (with whom we are joined and rooted together in the olive tree).
Come and be a part of God’s watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem! The chain still has gaps in it!
Those responsible for each of the seven days of the 24 hour prayer chain share insights into their motivation, convictions and committment:
Interview of the leaders:
“When Werner at that time told prayer guards for Israel of its impression about the 24h, I had felt immediately, I am to invest myself in it. Since I have a heart for Israel, it is to be allowed to take part in me a privilege as a daily responsible person for Sunday.”
Before I retired I asked GOD for an assignment for HIS Kingdom. Shortly afterwards Annemie Zinsli asked me whether I would take over the leadership of the Tuesday prayer-information for Israel. I didn’t need to think about it; it was the answer to my prayer. Sometimes when I read the prayer requests I am moved to tears, but the joy in serving GOD and his people outweighs everything.
Wednesday / Thursday
Israel is our root. All our spiritual fathers were Isrealites, for example Paul from the tribe of Benjamin (Rom. 11:1 and Phil. 3:5). Therefore Malachi’s words became important to us, „See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse“ (4:5-6). We want to actively support this process in prayer and intercede for Israel to enter its calling. Meinrad and Gabi
The reason I help and partake in the 24-hour prayer chain for Israel is, that for me it is a way in which I can bless the people of Israel. God will bless those who bless Abraham (and his offspring ) (Gen. 12: 3). It is as simple as that. I am convinced that the body of Christ worldwide cannot enter into the full blessings of God when we ignore this condition. The prayer letter from „Christian Friends of Israel“ is also valuable, as it informs us of the current situation in Israel with up-to-date prayer requests and helps to concentrate our prayer power of as Christians . It is also a source of accurate information as opposed to the mainly one-sided reports we read or hear about in the media in our country. I sometimes experience resistance during the despatch and distribution of the prayer letter and in our times of intercession, but, in the end, what remains is Shalom, the peace of God and this is my wish for everyone, who takes the time to pray for Israel: Peace be with you! The reason: Israel has been part of my life since I became a believer 34 yeras ago. Later I received the commission from God to be and stand as„ a watchman on the walls of Jerusalem“ . In this way, I joined the „24-hour prayer chain for Israel“. Because I am the person responsible for organising the intercession for Israel on Saturdays, I have become much more deeply involved. I am always grateful , joyful and strengthened when I occasionally receive Feedback from „my prayer warriors“. Peace be with Israel! Lina
