31 January – 3 February 2013
We attended a meeting of leaders of prayer-houses, together with those whose vision it is to start one and brothers and sisters who are dedicated to prayer. Around 80 people came from the Mediterrean region. It is wonderful to see what God is doing in different parts of Europe: in the Scandinavian countries pastors and prayer leaders are coming together: the same is taking place in the Balkans. The second Balkans prayer day is planned in May this year . Prayer leaders and pastors will join together there to ask God for a common vision and strategy for their region.
This meeting in the Mediterranean area was also the second of its kind. (The first one took place last year in Malta). The approximately 40 participants were extremely encouraged and excited to hear from each other and to pray with one another.
As soon as we heard of this meeting, we knew that the trumpets should be blown there. Gibraltar is an important and crucial gateway in the southernmost part of our continent. The conference organisers were not only in agreement with us but enthusiastically included the trumpet blowing initiative as an official topic on their agenda. It was the closing highlight as we stood on the panorama viewpoint in the middle of the Rock, with its fantastic vista, blew the trumpets, proclaimed God’s word and shouted a victory cry at the top of our voices.
On our return to Switzerland a friend told me that a few years ago a small group from Switzerland had also prayed in Gibraltar and blown the shofar in order to, among other things, prepare the way for the Jews to return to their homeland. An interesting fact about our trumpet blowing was that we blew them in the direction of Jerusalem.
God knows not only what He is doing but also when !
